WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE ERROR AFTER A GAME DISK?

My game plays fine whenever I play the disk. But whenever I turn the game off a blue screen appears and states that the application has been terminated and that the system has recovered from a serious error. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?
I have re-installed it.
WHEN I INSTALLED CALL OF DUTY 2 ON MY PC, I GET THIS ERROR WHEN I START THE GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME?

My error is this;
“DirectX came across an unrecoverable error”
and I clicked on the error, and it gave me possible reaons why it doesn’t work, and I tried all of those and it still does the same thing. I have also tried to re-install DirectX, and the same thing appeared. I have reinstalled the game also, and same problem. If anyone is willing to help me, I am running this game on my Windows Vista.
HOW DO I GET REFUND FOR ERROR-INFECTED GAME DOWNLOADED FROM YAHOO THE MICROSOFT SAYS TO BE REMOVED?

Attempted to play Scrabble; only game up on trial page asking if I wanted to buy which I had already done; personal locked up with error message saying to remove newly loaded software (which was Scrabble game). Had to shut power off to get the personal back up and running.
